    BNP Entrusts Prime Minister with Presidential Nomination Responsibility

    The National Standing Committee of the BNP has entrusted the responsibility of nominating the party’s candidate for the presidential election to BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

    BNP Secretary General and Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced this information after a Standing Committee meeting held at the BNP’s political office in Gulshan, Dhaka, on Saturday night (August 1).

    Earlier, the National Standing Committee, the highest policymaking forum of the BNP, held a meeting. BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman presided over it.

    Party sources said that besides the matter of nominating a party candidate for the presidential election, detailed discussions were held on the country’s current political situation, the government’s development activities, the party’s organizational activities, and future political strategies.

    After the meeting, Salahuddin Ahmed, a member of the BNP’s Standing Committee and Home Minister, stated that the government is preparing to organize local government elections towards the end of this year. Additionally, discussions were held on the country’s law and order situation, the ongoing political situation, and various contemporary issues.

    Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Salahuddin Ahmed, and other members of the BNP’s Standing Committee were also present at the meeting.
