    Trump’s Special Envoy Meets with Prime Minister

    US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, Sergio Gor, has met with Prime Minister Tareq Rahman. The meeting commenced at 9:30 AM on Saturday (August 1) at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon, Dhaka.

    During the meeting, various issues concerning the development of bilateral relations were discussed. Discussions also included the long-term solution to the Rohingya crisis.

    Earlier on Friday (July 31), Sergio Gor visited the Rohingya refugee camps in Ukhiya and Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar. There, he was apprised of the overall situation in the camps, humanitarian aid activities, and various aspects of the displaced Rohingyas’ lives. During his visit, he also exchanged views with relevant government officials, international organizations, and representatives involved in humanitarian assistance operations.

    The Special Envoy arrived in Dhaka on July 30 for a three-day official visit. His visit is being viewed as part of the ongoing dialogue in Bangladesh-US relations. According to diplomatic sources, discussions will continue on various regional issues, alongside further expansion of mutual cooperation between the two countries during the visit.
